I’ve been toying with the idea of this for months now after seeing a video on youtube about it.

Essentially I want all my games to be saved on my NAS and then while I am away and my server is running, I would like for my server to update any games that require updating essentially reducing my downtime from gaming and offloading all my games to my NAS.

One of those I have a solution for: I create an iscsi on my NAS and set it up on my gaming computer so that it does not appear as a network drive. Don’t worry, I am using 10gbe. I am not insane.

The one that puzzles me is that second query: how do I go about updating the information on that network share while I am away from my computer? I use both unraid and truenas for different reasons, but I am truly stumped on this. I want this setup so that when I get home from work and I want to open a game after taking care of dependents and chores I can maximize on my game time and not have to wait an hour to update Rainbow 6 for example.

Does anyone want to be able to do the same thing? Is this even possible?
