When I was on 22.01 LTS or sth, I was prompted to install the new 24 LTS. I thought it was another security update so I agreed. Then it turned out to be a large scale update. A leap from one to another distribution which is no regular updates.

Then when I was asked to configure thunderbird, the thunderbird terminal glitched and stopped responding and the update program wont even notice that its glitching…

Then I had to restart in the middle of the upgrade then when I finally restarted, it couldnt even boot.

I had to backup everything and reinstall ubuntu 24.01 LTS, and I failed to backup everything completely because it was too big. I lost almost all my data.

I thought of starting over in a new distribution. But ubuntu 24.01 LTS is awful: It was slow, programs were glitching, the new interface really makes it weird.

I then downgraded back to 22.01 LTS and of course, I lost all my data again because ubuntu doesnt retain the home folder when you install a new distribution…

It all started from a simple harmless prompt.
