My 2016 Kia Soul got written off after a deer ran into the side of it. I don’t know what insurance will give me for it yet. It’s been a nightmare dealing with them. (Another story.)

In today’s auto market (in Canada) would you buy a lower-end brand new car, or look for something better quality and used? My budget is around $25k. For that, I could buy a brand new Kia Soul, or I could buy a 2018 Toyota Rav4. I really loved driving my little Soul, but I know the longevity isn’t comparable to a better make.

For info, I do about 60k kilometres a year.
