Tldr: What should I get for my homelab, which minipc, or pc that I can upgrade in the future and can run vms without any problem without it costing a lot (i’m a highschool student)

How it died

So I was using this laptop from 2015 I had laying around in my house as my main server (bad idea). Hopefully all of my important data is backed up and in my nas. I’ve been running ubuntu on this laptop, but recenlty I’ve been using proxmox which I really liked. My main problem was ram which was really low for vms (16gb). So when the power went out. I thought my server since It’s a laptop will use the battery, that wasn’t the case with proxmox. After I turned it back on things weren’t going great. I couldn’t use the web panel. I can access it via ssh but after trying to recover it without having to restore it. The second I try to reboot it, it just went into the Asus logo and doesn’t want to boot up. Not even the bios. RIP 2015-2024
