I went to one last night. I remember as a kid in the 90s, if there were more than 3 people in line, they would open a new line.

It’s quite apparent almost everywhere now, that customer service has taken a backseat to profit. I know Walmart has always been greedy, but anymore it’s a mask-off “fuck you, we’re Walmart” type of greedy.

90% of the self checkouts were closed. On top of that, only 2 actual lanes were open. On top of that, the majority of the self checkout machines still open, only took card. I normally use a card, but on rare occasions I have cash.

Now it would make sense if there was a little sign on each lane if they took cash or not, maybe a little icon of a dollar bill crossed out. But no, you have no idea until you actually walk up to the machine. The screens used to be circled in red if they didn’t take cash, but I guess they figured their average dim-witted shopper wouldn’t be able to figure that out, and just assume it’s broken.
