I’ve had already many check-ins in south america, where they wanted me to sign, sometimes up to 3 pages, of additional rules, terms and conditions. many dont read them so exactly bu the rules are often very questionable, strict and there are sometimes also bad sections about using the credit card, giving the private details to partners etc…

to be honest: if I would have known those rules, I wouldn’t have booked. But often, I am just tired when arriving and I accept. And I feel pushed to sign it. They could have write it in the designated Houserules-Area from Booking or Hostelworld, but its not (or just the nice parts).

sometimes, I feel like really bad about signing that. its a feeling like, that they can do whatever they want (as long as its not against the law). but if there is a problem, they show the paper and say “he even signed it”.

from my point of view, they should inform customers -before- they pay, about the terms and conditions. but when I am refusing to sign the additional rules, they can also refuse to host me - in the end I create just a lot of hazzle, to get the money back (in the best case). they dont pay for the more expensive stay, I have/had to organize last minute.

is this a newer problem? am I wrong? what is your opinion… how do you see it?

(sorry if there are grammar errors, english is not my first language)
