So I’m in the market for a new-used car, my experience is an old as fuck 2001 corolla which I loved but was a rust bucket. I feel like every other car i’ve driven in the breaks/gas we’re always extremely sensitive, I touch the gas it jerks forward, with the breaks it feels like I can’t inch forward, it feels like I have zero control over the car. With my corolla I could probably stop on a dime. I recently test drove an 2011 volvo s40 t5 r design, it rode great, smooth acceleration, smooth breaking with the ability to creep forward, would of bought it but I was concerned for repair costs/availability of parts. I’ve driven in a family members 2020ish Accura RDX and it felt like shit, I look at the thing funny and it accelerates. I’ve driven an old 4runner, same thing. Is this just how it is with some cars? is it the difference between sedans vs larger cars? Just design? It’s hard to believe it’s just an age thing but I haven’t gotten a chance to drive any 4door sedans that are under 5 years old.

Long story short i’m looking to buy a 2010-2015 camry, accord, corolla and was curious what people think of their breaking/acceleration, if it would suit me, and any explanation to why it feels this way to me. I unfortunately don’t have alot of experience driving many cars so it’s hard to determine what it is.

I’ve also heard hybrids tend to have touchier breaks, is this true?
